Strawberry Layout

Sketched originally for a Strawberry themed contest at DeviantArt, finished today for Adam's. On 2.5x3.5 tiny canvas lol. I didn't sketch on it before so the house is a little off perspective wise... and symmetrically lol. I was going to do this digitally originally, but I got frustrated ^^; Maybe next time

so, here's another quick sketch
there are many problems, like the pose is sort of weird and doesn't have the intense direction i was going for, i obviously cut and pasted the arm in a different position and the legs are weird cause i didn't really consider the muscles...

the kind of critiques i'd like to recieve are more towards style. think sort of gorillaz and sort of koji morimoto and maybe a bit of the maxx. maybe you'll need to research those, but i'm going for a more punk illustration style.

feedback about how to weight the lines and make distort the anatomy would be great. also i didn't draw it here but he wears 3/4 shorts and flip flops, haha

So I wanted to paint and decided to do some to spice up my life drawing. I havent used watercolour in over a year, so still getting used to em.

This has nothing really to do with any of the challenges <_< ... but given that this'll being going up on my other blog and twitter I thought I'd drop it here to wooooo cross posting ftw. Anywho here's a chick with a gun (about 2hrs in sketchbook)

RPG - rough begninning ideas.

So if I haven't told you yet, I kinda thought up an RPG involving us eight.
As you know I love to classify and group us as certain things and one that I had done earily in the year was; what our job would be if we were part of a fantasy rpg.

To list them off quickly here is what I labled you as;

So I've been steadily working out a battle system for each of us and a plot line.
Why?
Because I seem to enjoy doing things like that.
I wanted to start drawing up guys up as characters as well. And since I branded Sean as the main character in this story I decided that I should probably draw him first. the only problem I was having with that was that since I didn't know how to draw armor... or even what the peices of armor looked like, I spent a vast majority of my time yesterday doing that. I found it very helpful.

I quickly whipped up a sketch of Sean in his Dark Knight armor and began playing arond with some colours and effects.

So by no means is this done, but tell me what you think.
And if you have any ideas reguarding the other characters let me know.

I'll try posting up a good looking pic of everyone in their fantasy costumes and the battle states soon.

Alright, so this is my first post. Ever. On a blog that is. I have been dealing with shit at home, but mainly I just lack the ability to draw and finish things and I think they look like crap and I don't want to try to finish them. So, yea... This is what I put together.

Alright. Adam I moved the hand to a lower position because of the gaze in her eyes looking past the hand as if at some target or opponent. So I figured I make her into some sort of punk street fighter girl who came from that anime you showed me with the 2 boys who 'rule the city' or something. I don't know what it's called, sorry.

So I kept her eyes forward to look beyond her front hand and then drew the other one to help prove that she is in a fighting stance. I also expanded the canvas to show more shoulder and forearm; you can just imagine that the two come together as one whole arm.

With the hand so large I had to give it dominance and some detail, so I added a leather glove where you can see some stitching and had her tie some shoe lace around her wrist for more of a badass appeal.

Speaking of badass-ness, I gave her piercings and more slanted and dark eyes to portray her as as her and not confusing her for a him. I also took out the tongue because I don't know what tongue would hold itself like that. I mean, it looks like she about to rape some poor little mexican girl trying to cross the border. So I took out the sexual tongue and was satisfied with a half grin to go for an expression that is slightly amused but not underestimating her next opponent. And the collar is just for the hell of it; longer neck for a feminine touch but the collar hides it to the degree to show toughness because Lucy wants to look like she can kick anyone's ass and not a girly girl.

And no, I am not colouring it. Me and colour just don't get along. So this is as close to complete as it really gets at the moment.

Helpin Adam

Hey Adam, I don't really know what this scary little girl is...
So I had a hard time helpin.

Here is my version of whatever it is you were doing.

So My thoughts on the matter are as follows.

For her head, you just seemed to be placeing things on. I feel you didn't take into account the roundness of the head. by following the center lines you had already put down you should be able to put down eyes and noes and hairlines and ears that are where they should be.

I also felt like this character should of been looking down, peering out from under her (his?) brow line. You had drawen the body, neck and head as if she was staring straight forward which made things look a little weird. So i arched the back and the neck to give her more of a hunched over appearance.

Also with that tounge comng out from the mouth... I donno... to me it felt like she had no teeth, which was weird to have her saying anything because if she had no teeth not only would speak co-heirently, but with that tougne sticking out of her mouth she would have bitten it for sure.

The last thing I can think about is the hand.
My goodness the hand you had put on her was huge! Unreasonably so.
Without an elbow in the picture to tell me that was her hand, and without some perspective on her arm to show that the arm is recending into the distance, the hand just feel un-nessaryly large.
If you wish to have her hand take up that much space, simply do some forced perspective on her arm where she has a big wrist and it shrinks. Or maybe try to throw in her humorous part of the arm to show that her arm is sticking out and that's why her hand is so big.
Also I just noticed it in my drawing, I have reversed the brush stroke size. The hand/arm should have larger brush strokes then the head, to really help that perspective.
My last suggestion to help with that hand is to throw in some overlap. The head and hand don't touch each other. If the hand was over the head it might help me out that much more.

Anyways, So I hope I was of some help there Adam.
I knw my version of your drawing sucks a lot, perhaps if you gave me some insight as to what you were trying to do, I might of been able to help a little more.
